More Vintage Lingerie ...

Than I know what to do with! This morning I found these deadstock pairs of briefs in fuchsia & aqua - my favourite trashtastic colours. They were only about $5 each. Perfect for prancing around when the weather gets warmer. Or just whenever I have my heater on.

My vintage lingerie collection is getting enormous, despite my best culling efforts - I even parted with a cherished red satin bullet bra earlier in the year. I guess I just can't help myself. And you know what? That's okay!

Avant Chanel

avant chanel

This is what I wore to see Coco Avant Chanel last night with friends, and drink a really stunning vanilla rose cocktail. It was incredibly cold outside!

I'm wearing:
• Pleather motorcycle jacket, secondhand from 'Shag' on Oxford St. I was in Sydney this last weekend and thought it would be balmy compared to Canberra. I didn't anticipate an icy wind, and froze solid. The upside was, I bought this jacket! I love it to bits.
• 1940's black crepe & lace peplum dress, eBay.
• Black wool stockings, opshopped.
• Black 1980's granny boots.
• Yellow wool beret, opshopped.
• Yellow wool-lined perforated driving gloves, eBay. I'm not sure of the vintage. I'll guess 80's to be on the safe side.
• Silk multicoloured scarf, unseen.

As for the film, I loved the way it was shot - the colours and shifting focus. I really didn't like the way it seemed to rush towards the end. It felt like an inappropriately straight biopic for an unconventional woman. Still, the clothes were beautiful. Of course.

Did you see it? Did you like it?

Thanks, Wayne!

For my new Wayne Cooper prescription sunglasses. I can see AND look like a bug at the same time!

I love these - they remind me of the Chanel 5018s worn by Miss Olsen in this Elle (?) photoshoot a couple of years ago:

Now all I need is an old car and a prom dress. OH WAIT. I already have those things - I'm all set! Now if I could just get my long mermaid hair back ...

Telephone Booths and Two Outfits

I've been running all over the countryside in the last few days. Visiting my parents, mostly. This is what I wore while I was visiting & doing exciting things like getting my car wheels realigned and having my eyes re-tested. The photographs were taken in their garden.

Wearing:
• Pink beret, eBay
• Grey & black 'Cue' shift dress.
• Black leggings, myer.
• 80's granny boots, eBay.

I am fairly obsessed with these new 80's granny boots. I have a feeling you'll see them a lot in weeks (& months) to come.

Being inspected by various curious animals.

This is what I wore last night, after driving five hours south-east, to see a friend's solo show. The dress is by a 1950's and 60's Hong Kong label, called "Dynasty", which replicated the then-current British fashions, usually in pure silk. It's beautiful quality but the cotton thread had rotted, so I had to re-sew all of the seams.

Wearing:

• Pink & green embroidered silk 'Dynasty' dress, 1960's, handsewn in Hong Kong.
• Black leggings.
• 1980's granny boots, eBay.
• Black MNG tuxedo jacket, secondhand on eBay.
• Black cardigan, opshopped.

So, without further ado, I am going back to my fantastic post-show-opening-hangover.

Grandmaster Pink is Nerdier Than You, MIXTAPE

So not a outfit this post, but something from one of my other many interests, MUSIC!

This is a little something i recorded and put together this year, the tracks on here sort of represent the entire span of my rapping career and are mostly little things i never thought to release by themselves (as well as a couple of sneaky covers!).

The one and main purpose of this mixtape is FUN.

Mixtapes are fun.

Enjoy!

Red, White and Blue

Well, my accomplishments for the past few days include eating carrot cake in bed, sitting in the rain despite being in possession of A Lingering Headcold, killing my favourite pyjama pants in cold blood and listening to Cat Power albums back-to-back while making tiaras from pink felt. My mid year Honours review came and went, in a haze of cold'n'flu tablets, and that's why my blog posts have been seriously lacking. Lucky for me Pink is picking up the slack lately!

Oh yeah -- the two of us were featured in a Canberra Times article last week, alongside the gorgeous Nina Ribena, Go Fug Yourself and Bagaholic Boy. Thanks, Claire, for saying all those lovely things!

Today's outfit is not spectacular - I've lost a bit of interest in getting dressed lately, as a result of being sick and the ever-dropping temperature. But I'm trying - I am out of my pyjamas, despite a strong urge to wear them everywhere.

This is what I'm wearing today, in search of bird sanctuaries and beer.

red, white, blue

Wearing:
• Blue scarf tied in a bow, a gift from the boy made of glitter.
• Red and white 'Lanz Original' dress, dated 1962.
• Blue 'we love colors' stockings.
• Tatty red patent flats.
• 1950's navy jacket, from a skirt suit, eBayed for $5.00.
• Peach crinoline (unseen), eBay.
